Winter Travels part I – Viagens de Inverno part I

Sheffield and the Peak District, England UK

Meeting my sister and a good old friend was reason enough to love my week in Sheffield. But the beauty of the Peak District was the surprise that made into a dream. Hills and villages that evoked Jane Austen novels and the stories of the Brontë sisters.

It was also sheep paradise – they were everywhere!! It was just business as usual for the locals, but a true delight for me. The most common breed seemed to be the Derbyshire Gritstone. I wasn’t able to find some locally sourced wool, but I hear these hill sheep have a ‘coarsish’ and very resistant wool. Maybe I will try some from here sometime soon.

Plus, there were also the Alpacas. I had never seen an alpaca in my life and was stunned at how much they resemble sheep! It is actually quite disturbing, but once you observe them closely they are quite lovely.

Finalmente, as Alpacas. =)
